Man Fishes from Hole in Living Room Floor

An Oklahoma man has officially made fishermen jealous the world over with his sly-handed craftsmanship.

Paul Phillips has built many houses over the years. The Skiatook contractor knows his way around a blueprint or two, and he’s been harboring plans for his own dream house for a while now.

Paul also happens to be a passionate fisherman. His favorite spot to fish? Lake Oologah.

He could easily pass hours on the lake, waiting for the fish to bite. So, when he was told he could no longer fish there, it was no surprise that he had a strong reaction to it.

“One of these days I’ll have a place of my own and nobody can tell me I can’t fish there,” he swore to the local news.

His next move involved a land purchase and a backhoe. The ornery fisherman meant what he said and he was determined to dig himself a pond. Soon after the pond was dug, he hired another contractor to help him build his home.

While his 3-bed, 3-bath, 1850 square foot home emits a quaint, cabin-in-the-country vibe, it possesses one thing other homes do not- a giant hole in the living room floor.

The 4’ x 4’ “hole” brought Paul’s dream home to full completion. He can officially fish where he wants and when he wants, and no one can do a thing about it.

As it turns out, many of Paul’s neighbors have a lot to say, and it’s mostly positive. “The lady next door, she loves to fish and this lady here, she can’t wait ’til spring to get here so she can hear the frogs a hollerin’,” he told the reporters.

Paul’s house was featured on the local news where he revealed this house is only the start of his fishing home dreams. He’s already envisioning and making plans for a bigger land purchase with an even bigger pond!

Sounds just like a fisherman, doesn’t it?
