Hannah Doss is a college graduate who was determined to escape the endless cycle of renting.
"I'm not a fan of renting," she declared, setting her sights on a more permanent, yet unconventional, solution. A unique vision of a more affordable lifestyle had already taken root in her mind.
Fueled by her disdain for monthly rent, Hannah stumbled upon a unique opportunity at a surplus auction. There, she found a 1985 railway trailer, which she ambitiously decided to transform into her tiny home. She aptly named it "Journey."
The auction was the turning point for Hannah. She’d set a strict budget for herself, vowing not to exceed $350. Miraculously, that's exactly what she paid for the trailer.
The renovation process began in her parents' backyard. Surprisingly, it became a family affair that brought them closer together.
"Luckily, my parents were willing to lend a hand," Hannah shared while highlighting the collaborative effort that made her dream possible. This teamwork significantly cut down costs and time.
Three and a half years later, Hannah's tiny home has found its spot in Lake Tahoe, California, where she lives with her boyfriend and their dog. Journey’s interior is a marvel of efficiency and design.
"It feels spacious and functional," Hannah explains, proud of the transformation.
The home features a multifunctional living area, a kitchen for meal prep, and a workspace with a stunning view. Every corner is oozing with ingenuity as a result of their hard work.
Beyond creating a home, Hannah has shared her journey with the world through a children's book that draws inspiration from her experiences.
She warmly invites the curious to explore the space she's created in a video tour that offers an intimate glimpse into her life with Journey.

At the Columbus Zoo, a routine family outing took a turn toward the extraordinary, thanks to a toddler named Isaiah.
Amidst the usual zoo backdrop, Isaiah encountered a moment of serendipity with Kamoli, a baby gorilla who was as curious about the visitors as they were about him. Their first encounter was marked by a simple yet profound gesture.
Isaiah, mimicking the actions of the gorillas, began pounding his chest. It was a move that caught Kamoli's attention and sparked an immediate connection.
What unfolded next was a spontaneous display of camaraderie that transcends species. Isaiah and Kamoli found themselves in a lively game of “tag”, with each movement mirrored and each pause filled with anticipation.
Sherry Chute, Isaiah's mother, watched as her son and the gorilla playfully communicated without words. "It was delightful to see Isaiah make such a unique and exotic friend," she exclaimed, still joyous over witnessing such a pure and unexpected friendship.
The game soon evolved, with Kamoli hiding behind a tree and Isaiah eagerly trying to locate him. Their interaction was a dance of hide-and-seek, punctuated by Isaiah's giggles and Kamoli's silent playfulness.
"Seeing him so genuinely happy melted my heart," Sherry reflected.
This unique encounter captured the hearts of millions online. The video of their interaction is so filled with genuine joy and curiosity that it has amassed over 2 million views!
It stands as a beautiful reminder of the unexpected connections that can occur outside our day-to-day lives.

Enter Harper’s Weekly, a publication renowned for its incisive political cartoons and rich illustrations. Their small introduction of chin whiskers began to cement the familiar visage of the Uncle Sam that we recognize today.
This particular portrayal arrived at a time when America was navigating the choppy waters of Reconstruction after the Civil War. The nation was seeking symbols of unity and national pride to help mend the dark divide that had cracked the country.
This image would later be immortalized by James Montgomery Flagg's iconic World War I recruitment poster, further embedding Uncle Sam in the national consciousness.
1894 - William Painter revolutionized how we “crack a cold one” with his patented bottle opener. It is noteworthy that he also patented the bottle cap itself not long before, brilliantly capitalizing on the logistics of his own earlier invention.
